About Tensioners and Splicers (general)

Tensioner/tighteners take up slack and keep electric fence conductors from sagging. Some may also serve as splicer or joiners, in which case they are also listed in that section. The principal job of splicers, joiners, and clamps is to bring separate strands of an electric fence conductor together, though many can also assist in the work of tensioning and tightening conductors. In contrast, electrical connectors cannot assist in tightening conductors and should not be placed under any physical stress. Their task is to provide good electrical connections that permit the charge to pass throughout the electrified portions of the fence.
