About Fiberglass Electric Fence Posts
The round fiberglass posts we sell have been treated to eliminate splinters and resist the weather. They will not crack, rot, or conduct electricity, and they last just about forever (better than 20 years). These qualities make them fine electric fence posts.
3/8-inch Fiberglass Posts
These posts are light and flexible, which makes them good line posts in temporary fencing where sideways stress is minimal. At corners, ends, and gates with significant sideways stress one should expect them to bend a lot. Counter the bend by placing them in the ground at an angle, using heavier fiberglass posts at these points, or substituting other kinds of posts. Available in white and hunter green.
These posts are still flexible, but not so flexible as the 3/8-inch posts (see above).
Large-Diameter (5/8 to 3/4-inch) Fiberglass Posts
These posts serve well as line posts in a permanent electric fence and can also work satisfactorily as more rigid corner, and, and gate posts in a temporary or portable electric fence. The 11/16 posts, which have 3/8-inch holes drilled every 2 inches, also work well as line posts in high-tensile fences, where only one post is needed every 80 feet because battens can be used at intermediate points between them (see High-Tensile Electric Fence for Horses).
5/8-inch posts, undrilled:
11/16-inch drilled posts: These posts have 3/16-inch holes drilled every 2 inches. They can serve as line posts using cotter pins to support high-tensile wire. (This is not a good system for horses but is fine for cattle and most other livestock). These posts can take round post insulators 07-04 and 07-99 to support polyrope/polybraid or high-tensile Hot Coat/Polycoat, all of which are recommended both for horses and other livestock.
Three-Quarter-Inch Fiberglass Posts These make ultra-sturdy and ultra-elegant line posts for permanent electric fences.
