Aluminum Electric Fence Wire
Aluminum electric fence wire is an ideal conductor. Its disadvantages for horses are that it is hard to see, and so strong and thin that it can injure animals that run into it. Another disadvantage is that after being put out it cannot be wound up and used again. It is thus not well suited to temporary electric fences. On the other hand, it is well-suited to an electric fence that supplements an existing barrier horse fence in order to prevent horses from leaning or chewing on the fence.
Galvanized Steel Electric Fence Wire
The high-quality Class III galvanized steel electric fence wires below (200,000 psi strength) have a well-earned reputation for longevity. They are well-suited to both electric and non-electric high-tensile fences made to contain, cattle, sheep, and other livestock. They are not recommended for stand-alone electric horse fences because of danger to the horses, but other high-tensile fence conductors are suitable for containing horses (see High-Tensile Fence for Horses).
