Two-inch Polytape
When used in wind-sheltered areas, two-inch polytape provides electric fences with an added measure of strength, conductivity, and elegance. For accessories to fit these tapes see tables 2 through 7 below. Suggested maximum fence lengths for these products: 02-34 and 02-36, 8,000 feet; 02-35, three miles.
Insulators for 2-inch Polytape
Insulators 07-41 and 07-71 hold the tape firmly, reducing wind wear. Insulator 07-73 is a Top'R insulator that holds 2-inch tape and also covers the top of the T-post, preventing the exposed and often sharp metal top of the post from injuring horses. Insulator 07-90 attaches to round posts up to half an inch in diameter and holds the tape about 2 inches out from the post. Insulator 07-07 (very specialized) clips onto 3/8-inch round posts that are generally made of fiberglass.
Splicers and Tensioners for 2-inch Polytape
Splicers 08-10 and 08-16 can join two tapes or end a tape by buckling it back on itself after it passes through an end tensioner like 07-45. The two are identical except that 08-16 has a projection for hooking onto a gate handle.
Corner and end tensioners 07-45 (for wood/vinyl posts) and 07-74 (for steel T-posts) can terminate a run of tape at an end or gate, or can take it around a corner.
End tensioners 08-08 and 08-08W have a plastic split bolt. When the tape needs tightening, just loosen the split bolt, take up the slack by rotating the mechanism, and tighten the bolt again.
Gates
Make a gate with 2-inch polytape by attaching tensioner 07-45 or 07-74 to both posts. Then pass one incoming tape through splicing buckle 08-10, through one arm of the tensioner, and back through the splicing buckle. Repeat this with the other incoming tape and with the tape being used to cross the gate opening, securing one end of the tape crossing the opening to the splicing buckle at the back of gate handle 05-09, and hooking the handle onto the remaining free arm of one tensioner.
Electrical Connectors
Electrical connector 02-90, designed to connect two 1.5-inch polytapes, can accommodate 2-inch tapes. Charger to tape connector 02-87A is designed to connect an electric fence charger to tape up to 2 inches wide.
Step-in Post for 2-inch Polytape
The step-in post above has slots to take 2-inch tape that are 22, 33, 44, and 58 inches above ground after the post has been set in. Sold only in boxes of 10.
