Parmak Fieldmaster 2 (FM-2; 1+ Joules)
- Powers short and mid-length electric fences for horses
- Contains dogs and livestock
- Keeps out deer, small animals
- 1-year warranty
Parmak's Fieldmaster 2 is a useful electric fence charger, a long-established workhorse capable of dealing with fences of short and moderate length and a wide range of horse behaviors. So long as one is using a single 12.5 gauge galvanized steel wire with perfect connections as one's electric fence, the Fieldmaster 2 is capable of charging up to 15 miles of electric fence. Voltage and joule data: Parmak reports that the FM-2 puts out 10,500 volts on an open circuit and is good at handling weeds--so good that a minor (500 ohm) weed burden will only reduce the line voltage to around 6,700 volts and a heavy weed burden providing a 100-ohm path to the ground will still leave some 3,500 volts on the line. Parmak rates the FM-2 at 0.99-2.5 joules. Other animals: The FM-2 is useful for containing dogs and many sorts of livestock, including cattle and pigs. It is also suited to repelling deer with both a baited and an unbaited electric fence. General data: The FM-2 features advanced solid-state circuitry, fuse protection with built-in lightning arrestors, color coded positive and ground terminals, a flashing light that indicates when the electric fence charger and its immediate connections are working properly, and a one-year warranty against defects and lightning damage. The FM-2 must be installed in a clean, dry location protected from the weather. Instructions and mounting screws are included.
